Introduction

Directorate of International Linkages is mandated to bridge the gap between the University and the international research and academic organizations through networking and collaborations. This office is envisioned to adapt the GCUF community with changing role of the universities through a greater connectivity and strong linkages with the regional and international communities. Therefore, this office seeks to enable the University to build its global footprint with research and academic collaborations at national and international levels by following global multisectoral approach. Since its inception, the Directorate of International Linkages has continued to strive for excellence in meeting its directive of evolving a proactive approach and development agenda geared at initiating linkages with reputable institutions and funding agencies for greater visibility of GCUF at national and international fronts. Despite a relatively young institute, GCUF has increased its academic and research portfolio many-fold which is evidenced from its consistent improvements in national and international rankings. As a result, the activities of this directorate are anticipated to grow exponentially with international organizations for building and expanding partnerships for capacity building, research & development, outreach activities and community development programs.

Mission

Since its inception, the Directorate of International Linkages is striving for excellence to meet its directive through proactive and ambitious approach. This office has a focus to initiate linkages with reputable institutions and funding agencies and consortia with relevant academic and research organizations at international levels with the purpose of faculty and student exchanges within national and foreign universities and research institutes.

  • Joint research projects, conferences, seminars, workshops and internships
  • Joint curriculum development and degree programs

Admissions for International Students

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

With the aim of supporting foreign students pursuing educational aspirations in Pakistan, Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) invites applications for admission to its undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The complete list of programs and eligibility criteria is available on the university’s website: www.gcuf.edu.pk.

Objectives

  1. To offer a unique cultural immersion experience, allowing international students to explore the rich heritage and diverse society of Pakistan.
  2. To create a collaborative learning environment where students from around the world can exchange ideas and expertise, particularly in addressing the opportunities and challenges shared by developing economies.
  3. To build a lifelong global network and contribute to a dynamic, multicultural campus that fosters international goodwill and understanding.

Eligibility criteria

  1. The applicant must hold a foreign nationality at the time of both application and admission.
  2. Educational requirements:
    • For undergraduate programs: Completion of 12 years of school (Secondary School Certificate or equivalent) and college (Higher Secondary School Certificate or equivalent) education in the relevant field.
    • For postgraduate programs:
    o For MS/MPhil Programs: Completion of 16 years of education in the relevant field.
    o For PhD Programs: Completion of 18 years of education in the relevant field.

How to apply
Foreign nationals seeking admission are required to submit their applications online through the University’s admissions portal at https://admissions.gcuf.edu.pk/login.php along with scanned copies of the following documents. Incomplete applications shall not be considered for admission:

    1. Certified copies (in English) of certificates, mark sheets, or degrees obtained from institutions in the home country.
    2. For undergraduate programs: Equivalence Certificate from the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC), Islamabad, confirming twelve years or equivalent of schooling. For postgraduate programs: Equivalence Certificate from the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad, confirming sixteen years of education in the relevant field. Applicants who do not possess the required Equivalence Certificate at the time of application may be granted provisional admission, subject to submission of the certificate within sixty days of provisional admission. Failure to submit the certificate within the stipulated period will result in automatic cancellation of admission without prior notice.
    3. Two recent passport-sized photographs with a blue background.
    4. Original No Objection Certificate (NOC) or nomination letter from the concerned embassy in Pakistan.
    5. Clear copies of the first three pages of the passport, as well as the page showing entry into Pakistan (if applicable).
    6. A medical fitness certificate issued by a registered medical practitioner, clearly stating the purpose as “admission in Pakistan,” and duly countersigned by the Pakistani Embassy in the applicant’s home country.
    7. A duly completed Student Information Sheet, as per the specimen available on the University admissions website and the HEC website at www.hec.gov.pk.
    8. Completed student visa application form.

Admission procedure
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) Islamabad, in coordination with Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF), aims to support foreign students throughout the administrative process of applying to and studying in Pakistan. This includes assistance with submitting applications, obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC), and securing a student visa. Foreign nationals applying to professional programs are advised to follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Following an initial eligibility assessment, the University will inform the applicant of the provisional admission offer, including any applicable terms and conditions, and will advise them to submit the required fee to confirm their acceptance.
  2. Once the fee has been received, the University will forward the Student Information Sheet, the completed visa application form, and the provisional admission confirmation to the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. The HEC will then initiate the student visa process, which includes security clearance through the Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs, Government of Pakistan.
  3. As the security clearance and visa processing may take time, applicants who wish to travel to Pakistan in the interim may do so on a valid visit visa while their student visa application is being processed.

Visa renewal
After joining studies, the GCUF has the responsibility of:
a. Verifying the Visa Extension Form
b. Issuing a Bonafide student Certificate
c. Recommending whether or not to extend the visa

Language facilitation
In the light of HEC instructions, the GCUF will provide basic Urdu learning classes, if required, to all foreign students to facilitate them for continue their studies in Pakistan.

GCUF will provide facilities to international students within TUF premises including:

GCUF Scholarship Programs for International Students Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) is pleased to offer scholarships to International Students for Undergraduate Programs:

  1. GCUF-COMSTECH Scholarships for Palestine and OIC Nationals (10 Scholarships)
    a. While awarding these scholarships, preference will be given to the Palestinian nationals
  2. GCUF Scholarship Program for Foreign Students (10 Scholarships)
    a. Open for any nationality having formal diplomatic ties with Pakistan; however, preference shall be given to students form OIC countries
  3. For these scholarships, GCUF will provide following financial support:
    a. Fee waiver
    b. For female students, Rs. 10,000/- stipend with hostel accommodation at GCUF
    c. For male students, Rs. 25,000/ without hostel accommodation

 

TORs for Hosting/Supervising International PhD Students at GCUF

  1. Host supervisor at GCUF will submit application for hosting the International PhD Scholar after endorsement by the respective chairperson and dean to the Directorate of International Linkages along with following supporting documents:
    a. Permission/recommendation from the foreign supervisor
    b. PhD synopsis
    c. Research work plan at GCUF
    d. Proof of enrollment at foreign university
  2. After scrutiny, the Directorate of International Linkages will forward the case to the Director Advanced Studies
  3. After approval from the Director Advanced Studies & Vice Chancellor, the Directorate of International Linkages will issue an official invitation letter to PhD Scholar
  4. Upon joining GCUF, the PhD scholar will pay a bench fee of US$ 300 per semester in equivalence to PKR as determined by the Treasurer
  5. In case of female students, hostel facility can be availed at GCUF by paying the applicable charges as per rules
  6. MoU between the visiting student University and GCUF is encouraged but not mandatory
  7. After successful completion of the visit, the host supervisor will issue a certificate to the student
