The Two-Day 16th Provincial Symposium on Unani Medicine: Prospects and Challenges was successfully organized by the Pakistan Association for Eastern Medicine in collaboration with the Faculty of Eastern Medicine, Hamdard University, Karachi, and the Department of Eastern Medicine, Government College University, Faisalabad

The event brought together leading experts, academicians, practitioners, and students from across Pakistan to deliberate on the advancements, challenges, and future directions of Unani Medicine.

The Inaugural Session was graced by distinguished guests including Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam, Vice Chancellor, Government College University Faisalabad as chief guest. Mr. Faisal Mangoria, Chief Operational Officer, Hamdard Laboratories waqf Pakistan, the Representative from WHO. Prof Dr Abdul Hannan Ex Vice Chancellor Hamdard University Karachi.

The Madam Sadia Rashid, Chief Patron of the Pakistan Association for Eastern Medicine and Chancellor of Hamdard University, delivered the Presidential Address, emphasizing the enduring legacy of Hakim Mohammed Said and the importance of integrating Unani Medicine with modern healthcare systems.

The symposium featured Literary Sessions highlighting the contributions of Hakim Mohammed Saeed in the fields of education, practice, research, and pharmaceutics. Scientific Sessions presented cutting-edge research and innovations in Unani Medicine, while participants engaged in dynamic discussions on the field’s modern-day prospects and challenges.

The Concluding Session of Day 1 was attended by Mr. Muhammad Nawaz Khokhar, MPA Punjab, and Dr. Saeed Elahi, Ex-Health Minister, Punjab, who served as Chief Guests.

On Day 2, the symposium continued with Scientific Session-II, a Panel Discussion on Unani Medicine: Prospects and Challenges, and a special meeting on the Challenges of Unani Medicine Education, chaired by Madam Sadia Rashid and co-chaired by Prof. Dr. Abdul Hannan. A Poster Presentation Competition also showcased innovative research by young scholars.

The event concluded with a Closing Ceremony presided over by Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, Vice Chancellor, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, as Chief Guest, and Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam, Vice Chancellor, Government College University, Faisalabad, as Guest of Honor. Souvenirs and shields were presented to the dignitaries in recognition of their valuable participation and contributions. The symposium was lauded as a landmark event, promoting collaboration, academic excellence, and renewed commitment to the growth of Unani/ Eastern Medicine in Pakistan.
