Closing Ceremony of International Symposium on the Importance of Soil Organic Carbon Held at Government College University Faisalabad

The closing ceremony of the International Symposium on the Importance of Soil Organic Carbon was held at the New Campus of Government College University Faisalabad. The event brought together a large number of national and international environmental scientists, researchers, academicians, and students, marking the successful conclusion of a highly insightful and collaborative scientific forum.
Vice Chancellor of GCUF, Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized the crucial role of soil organic carbon in maintaining soil fertility, promoting ecological balance, and mitigating the adverse effects of climate change. He stressed that sustainable soil management practices and evidence-based research are vital for achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Principal Organizer, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Riaz, highlighted the significance of international academic cooperation in tackling global environmental challenges.
Prof. Dr. Sabir Hussain, Chairman of the Department of Environmental Sciences, underscored the importance of understanding soil organic carbon dynamics to ensure long-term agricultural sustainability.
Prof. Dr. Farhat Jabeen, Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences, praised the efforts of the organizers and participants for making the symposium a resounding success.
The symposium featured keynote addresses and scientific discussions by eminent experts from Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, France, Spain, Australia, and China, along with prominent environmental scientists from various universities across Pakistan. Participants presented research papers and shared innovative approaches on soil carbon conservation, sustainable agriculture, and climate change mitigation.
