A significant meeting was held at Government College Women University, Faisalabad, chaired by ๐๐ซ๐จ๐Ÿ. ๐ƒ๐ซ. ๐ˆ๐ช๐ซ๐š๐ซ ๐€๐ก๐ฆ๐š๐ ๐Š๐ก๐š๐ง, Chairperson Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC). The event was graced by ๐๐ซ๐จ๐Ÿ. ๐ƒ๐ซ. ๐‘๐š๐ฎ๐Ÿ-๐ข-๐€๐ณ๐š๐ฆ, Vice Chancellor, Government College University Faisalabad, along with Vice Chancellors from prominent public sector universities of Faisalabad and surrounding regions. During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam emphasized the urgent need for deep systemic reforms to enhance quality and make higher education future-ready. He further stated that there is a pressing need to recalibrate the current overemphasis on quantitative metrics and to reintroduce qualitative measures in faculty appointments, promotions, and other key academic processes. The recently approved KPIs for evaluating Vice Chancellors’ performance were also discussed. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam highlighted specific examples where significant improvements are necessary, warning that without such improvements, these measures could prove counterproductive or even detrimental. The discussion among the Vice Chancellors underscored the critical importance of collaboration, innovation, and visionary leadership in shaping the future of higher education in Punjab. By sharing experiences, challenges, and best practices, the academic leaders emphasized the need for joint efforts to drive sustainable reforms, enhance institutional performance, and respond proactively to emerging global trends in education and research.
