Kashmir Solidarity Walk Held at Government College University Faisalabad on Kashmir Black Day

The International Community Must Take Notice of Serious Human Rights Violations in Kashmir: Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam

A Kashmir Solidarity Walk was organized by the Directorate of Students Affairs at Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) on the occasion of Kashmir Black Day. A large number of faculty members, students, and university staff participated in the walk to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people on the completion of 79 years of India’s illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing the participants, Vice Chancellor of Government College University Faisalabad, Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam, urged the international community, particularly the United Nations and international human rights organizations, to take immediate notice of the serious and systematic human rights violations committed by India in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and hold India accountable for these violations. He emphasized the need for practical and effective measures to end state repression and ensure a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute.

The Vice Chancellor further stated that, in the context of India’s recent aggressive conduct, Kashmir Black Day highlights the fact that lasting peace and stability in South Asia depend on a just and durable resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions.

On the occasion, Director of Students Affairs, Prof. Dr. Nadeem Sohail, stated that the entry of Indian forces into Srinagar on October 27, 1947, marked an open violation of international law and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, representing one of the darkest chapters in modern history. He said that Kashmir Black Day is observed every year to reaffirm the commitment to supporting the Kashmiri people’s ongoing struggle for their right to self-determination. Despite decades of oppression, the courage and spirit of resistance of the Kashmiri people remain undiminished.

Students from various faculties, faculty members, and university administration participated in the walk and chanted slogans in support of the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
