GCUF Hosts Opening of 3rd International Brain & Biomedicines Conference

The 3rd International Brain and Biomedicines Conference 2026 (IBBC-2026) commenced at Government College University Faisalabad, bringing together leading scientists, researchers and students from across the globe.

The two-day international conference is being held under the leadership of renowned neuroscientist and IBRO grant awardee Dr Ghulam Hussain, Chairman of the Department of Physiology. The event is jointly organized by the Department of Physiology and the Department of Pharmaceutics.

The conference is part of the International Brain Awareness Week and aims to promote awareness about brain health and advancements in biomedical sciences. It is sponsored by the International Brain Research Foundation (UK), Dana Foundation (France) and COMSTECH, highlighting its global significance. More than 60 national and international institutions are represented at the conference, reflecting its wide outreach and academic importance.

The opening ceremony was attended by prominent academic figures, including Vice Chancellor University of Agriculture Faisalabad Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali and Vice Chancellor University of Kamalia Prof Dr Yasir Nawab.

The conference features keynote addresses by distinguished national and international experts, focusing on emerging trends and research in brain sciences and biomedical fields. Prof Dr Zeliha Salamoglu from the Department of Medical Biology, Nigde Omer Halisdemir University, Turkiye, delivered a keynote address, while Prof Dr Imtiaz Ahmad Dogar, Head of Psychiatry and Behavioural Sciences at Faisalabad Medical University, also spoke on the occasion.

Experts emphasized that such international forums play a vital role in promoting research, innovation and academic collaboration. The conference aims to enhance awareness regarding brain health, foster scientific research and strengthen global partnerships. According to the organisers, the remaining sessions of IBBC-2026 will include scientific discussions, research presentations and interactive sessions, providing participants with valuable opportunities for learning and networking.
