GCUF Launches Tree Plantation Drive for Sustainable Future

Government College University Faisalabad has launched a tree plantation drive titled “Enhancing Biodiversity for a Sustainable Future”aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and ecological awareness among students and the wider community.
The campaign was organized by the Department of Botany in collaboration with the Society of Plant Biodiversity. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam formally inaugurated the drive by planting saplings at the Botanical Garden of the university’s New Campus, accompanied by deans, directors, and faculty members of the Department of Botany.
During the plantation campaign, flowering and fruit-bearing trees were planted at various locations across the New Campus, marking a significant step towards enhancing green cover and biodiversity within the university. The Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of Prof. Dr. Rizwan Rashid and Dr. Qasim Ali for successfully organizing the initiative. He remarked that such activities play a vital role in fostering positive environmental change in society.
Addressing the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam emphasized that universities are not only centers of learning but also platforms for nurturing environmentally responsible citizens. He stated that awareness among the younger generation about the importance of trees is essential to ensuring a sustainable and environmentally secure Pakistan.
