Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, PM’s Coordinator on Commerce and Industries, Calls for Stronger Industry–Academia Linkages at GCUF

Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Commerce and Industries, met with the Vice Chancellor of Government College University Faisalabad, Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam, at his office to discuss matters of mutual interest, industrial development, and the evolving role of higher education institutions in strengthening Pakistan’s economy.

The meeting aimed to strengthen industry–academia collaboration, provide students with practical training opportunities, and align academic programs with Pakistan’s economic and industrial needs.

Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan highlighted that universities are nurseries of skilled professionals and urged students to build strong industry linkages during their studies for a smooth transition into the workforce.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam highlighted the need for a high-level policy to institutionalize industry–academia partnerships, enabling internships, on-the-job training, and research-driven innovation.

Both leaders agreed to advance cooperation through joint working groups, consultative sessions, and formal agreements, aiming to boost the national economy, provide quality employment for youth, and align academic research with industry needs.
