Government College University Faisalabad Marks World Soil Day 2025

The Department of Environmental Sciences, Government College University Faisalabad, observed World Soil Day 2025 with a seminar and an awareness walk themed โHealthy Soils for Healthy Cities.โ The event gathered faculty, researchers, and students to highlight the vital link between soil health and sustainable urban living.

Chairman Prof. Dr. Sabir Hussain and Organizing Secretary Prof. Dr. Tahira Yasmeen stressed the global significance of the day and the role of universities in promoting environmental responsibility.
Director ORIC Prof. Dr. Tanvir Shahzad delivered a keynote address on improving soil fertility, reducing pollution, and integrating soil conservation into urban planning. Prof. Dr. Farhat Jabeen, Incharge Faculty of Life Sciences, emphasized research-driven solutions and community awareness for restoring degraded soils.
The event concluded with an awareness walk, where participants carried placards promoting the message that soil protection is key to building greener and more resilient cities.
