Dengue Awareness Seminar held at Government College University Faisalabad; experts emphasize adopting preventive measures

A seminar on Dengue Prevention and Awareness was held at Government College University Faisalabad, presided over by Prof Dr Rauf-i-Azam, Vice Chancellor of GCUF.

In his address, the Vice Chancellor emphasized the rising threat of dengue, the importance of preventive measures, environmental improvement, and the need for continuous community-level awareness. He stated that universities are not limited to education alone but also play a leading role in social welfare and public health.

Dr. Abid Rasheed, In-charge Faculty of Medical Sciences, highlighted the practical role of the medical sector in dengue prevention, timely diagnosis, screening, and the significance of training students. Dr. Azmat Abbas, District Health Officer, informed participants about government initiatives at the district level, including household surveillance, inspections, and the need for public cooperation.

During the seminar, Prof. Dr. Badr delivered a scientific lecture on the pathophysiology of the dengue virus, its complications, and modern treatment strategies. Entomologist Dr. Moaz Hayat presented a research briefing on mosquito breeding, species, biological control, and eco-friendly measures, which was highly appreciated by the participants.

At the end of the seminar, Dr. Muhammad Akram, Chairperson Eastern Medicine, stated that effective awareness, community involvement, and institutional cooperation are the only solutions to prevent dengue. He reaffirmed that Government College University Faisalabad will continue organizing such activities in the future to promote public health and community welfare.
