GCUF, IFANCA Pakistan Organise Three-Day Halal Lead Auditor Course

The Department of Food Science, Government College University Faisalabad, in collaboration with IFANCA Pakistan, organized a three-day Halal Lead Auditor Course aimed at equipping students with professional auditing skills required by national and multinational food industries.
The inaugural session was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Rauf-i-Azam, while Prof Dr Faqir Muhammad Anjum (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz), Prof Dr Farhat Jabeen (Dean Life Sciences), Prof Dr Farhan Saeed (Chairman, Department of Food Science), faculty members, industry experts and a large number of students attended.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Rauf-i-Azam said that the rapidly expanding global halal food market presents both opportunities and challenges, especially for developing countries. He emphasized that ensuring the availability of safe, hygienic and authentically halal food to the public is a national responsibility.
Highlighting the significance of the course, Dr Farhan Saeed said that halal assurance and auditing have become essential components of the modern food industry.
Prof Dr Farhat Jabeen urged faculty and students to deepen their academic and research engagement with halal food concepts, noting that halal compliance has now become a crucial global scientific and commercial domain.
Prof Dr Faqir Muhammad Anjum appreciated the efforts of the university and IFANCA Pakistan for promoting capacity building in halal certification, terming it a vital step toward strengthening Pakistan’s role in the global halal market.
The technical training session will continue for three days, during which participants will receive hands-on training in halal standards, auditing procedures, documentation, and compliance requirements.
Upon completion of the course, students who successfully pass the final assessment will be awarded Halal Lead Auditor Certificates, qualifying them to conduct audits for national and multinational food industries.
