GCUF Signs Landmark MoU with Lushan Botanical Garden Under Chinese Academy of Sciences to Establish Pakistan’s First Botanical Garden

On the second day of his official visit to China, Prof. Dr. Rauf-I-Azam, Vice Chancellor of GCUF, signed another key MoU with the renowned Lushan Botanical Garden in Jiangxi Province, operating under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

The Botanical Garden spans 500 hectares and includes 13 specialized parks, over 10,000 plant species, 170,000 specimens, and more than 5,000 plant taxa, making it a global center for botanical science, biodiversity conservation, and ecological research.

The newly signed MoU between GCUF and Lushan Botanical Garden marks a landmark collaboration to establish a botanical garden in Pakistan, supporting plant conservation, ecological restoration, environmental education, and scientific tourism. It also promotes co-hosted academic activities to strengthen botanical and environmental sciences in Pakistan.

During the signing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Rauf-I-Azam highlighted the importance of botanical research and environmental sustainability for Pakistan, noting that this partnership will open new avenues for biodiversity studies, conservation projects, and green development.

GCUF acknowledges the crucial role of Dr. Muhammad Tahir ul Qamar, Deputy Director, Directorate of International Linkages, who is also serving as the focal person for this collaboration.
