35th National and 23rd International Chemistry Conference Begins at GCUF: Exploring the Role of Chemistry in Sustainable Development

The 35th National and 23rd International Chemistry Conference, titled “Role of Chemistry for Sustainable Development,” began with great enthusiasm at Government College University Faisalabad. The event is organized by the Department of Chemistry, GCUF, in collaboration with the Chemical Society of Pakistan (CSP), and supported by the University of Agriculture Faisalabad and the Government College Women University Faisalabad.
The Vice Chancellor of GC University Faisalabad, Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam, presided over the inaugural ceremony. Distinguished guests included Prof. Dr. Yasir Nawab, Vice Chancellor, University of Kamalia, Prof. Dr. Shazia Anjum, Vice Chancellor, Government Sadiq College Women University Bahawalpur, and Prof. Dr. Rasheed Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, University of Malakand, and Secretary, Chemical Society of Pakistan.
The Conference Chair, Prof. Dr. Kaleem Khan Khosa, Principal Organizer, Prof. Dr. Abdullah Ijaz Hussain, Conference Secretary, Prof. Dr. Shahzad Ali Shahid Chatha, and Patron of the Conference, Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood Zia, also actively participated in the inaugural session and delivered their inaugural addresses.
Two international speakers from Malaysia and Benin were also present at the inaugural session, highlighting the growing global academic collaboration of the conference.
Addressing the audience, Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam emphasized the vital role of chemistry in achieving sustainable development and stressed the need to modernize the chemistry curriculum according to the latest scientific and industrial trends. He appreciated the organizing team for uniting leading scientists and researchers on one platform.
The first day of the conference featured plenary and keynote lectures along with oral presentations on diverse research areas including analytical chemistry, nanotechnology, environmental science, pharmaceuticals, and renewable energy.
Organizers said the conference provides a valuable platform for scientists, academicians, and professionals to exchange ideas, build collaborations, and promote sustainable scientific innovation.
The event will continue for the next two days, featuring technical sessions, poster presentations, and interactive discussions focused on advancing chemistry for sustainable progress and national development.
