On the occasion of World Food Day, an awareness walk and seminar were organized at GC University Faisalabad

On the occasion of World Food Day, the Department of Food Science at Government College University Faisalabad organized an awareness walk and a one-day seminar. The chief guest of the event was Professor Dr. Faqir Muhammad Anjum (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz), while the Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences, Professor Dr. Farhat Jabeen, presided over the ceremony.

On this occasion, Professor Dr. Farhan Saeed (Chairman, Department of Food Science), Dr. Imran Pasha (Dean, Faculty of Food Science, University of Agriculture Faisalabad), Dr. Muhammad Abrar (Chief Scientist, Ayub Research), Dr. Qasim Raza (DDO, Punjab Food Authority), Rana Asad (Additional Director, PFA), Zia Ullah (CEO, Sarmarkand), Professor Dr. Ghulam Hussain (Chairman, Department of Physiology), along with faculty members, food experts, and a large number of students participated in the event.

The speakers emphasized the importance of preventing food waste, promoting balanced diets, and ensuring the provision of clean and safe food.

In his address, Professor Dr. Farhan Saeed stated that food is a global issue, and effective policymaking and research are crucial to overcoming this challenge. He urged students to take an active role in waste management, value addition, and the production of quality food.

Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences, Professor Dr. Farhat Jabeen, highlighted the significance of the World Food Day 2025 theme — “Water is Life, Water is Food. Leave No One Behind” — and said that food security and a healthy society are our collective responsibility.

At the conclusion of the seminar, honorary shields and certificates were presented to the chief guest and other distinguished guests.
