Vice Chancellor of Government College University Faisalabad, Professor Dr. Rauf Azam, met with Ms. Saira Afzal Tarar to discuss the activation of the Hafizabad Campus

Vice Chancellor of Government College University Faisalabad, Professor Dr. Rauf Azam, met with Ms. Saira Afzal Tarar, Member of the National Assembly and Coordinator to the Chief Minister of Punjab for Population Welfare and Health.

During the meeting, the Vice Chancellor gave a detailed briefing on matters related to the Hafizabad Campus of GCU Faisalabad. The discussion focused on the availability of land for the campus and measures to make the institution fully functional.

Ms. Saira Afzal Tarar stated that in 2017, the Pakistan Muslim League (N) launched a plan to establish universities in remote areas of the country, under which the Hafizabad Campus of GCU Faisalabad was also included. She added that the PML-N is taking concrete steps to fulfill its commitments to the public in the fields of education and health, and as part of this effort, work has begun on providing land and infrastructure for the Hafizabad Campus.

She further said that the establishment of the university would not only provide opportunities for higher education but also create employment prospects at the local level. She emphasized that they are committed to providing the youth of Hafizabad with access to quality higher education within their own city.

Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Rauf Azam said that the university administration, with the cooperation of Hafizabad’s parliamentarians and district authorities, is striving to make the campus fully operational and to expand its academic degree programs in line with modern educational requirements.

He informed that currently, four BS programs are being offered at the existing Hafizabad Campus of GCU Faisalabad. However, due to the increasing number of admissions in the upcoming academic year, the available space and facilities are becoming insufficient. The Vice Chancellor drew the attention of government representatives to the need for a larger campus and improved facilities for students.

Professor Dr. Rauf Azam reaffirmed the university’s commitment to continuing its efforts to make higher education accessible in the district of Hafizabad in line with GCU Faisalabad’s educational vision.
