GCUF Champions Faculty Excellence with 2-Day STEM Leadership Training Workshop

Government College University Faisalabad began an ambitious two-day workshop titled “STEM Leadership Education” at its STC New Campus today, gathering over 80 faculty members from various departments for transformative faculty development. The workshop, organized by the Directorate of Training & Development under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Sofia Anwar, is part of GCUF’s mission to advance educational excellence in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

The event was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam, serving as Patron-in-Chief, who delivered a stirring address. Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam emphasized that quality education is attainable only through the relentless efforts of teachers, accentuating their role as curriculum innovators and champions of digital pedagogy. “The tireless dedication of educators, their commitment to curriculum improvement, and their ability to impart knowledge through the newest digital tools and strategies are the engines of educational progress,” he remarked.

Dr. Rauf-i-Azam expressed heartfelt appreciation for the British Council and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for their sustained support in building the capacity of Pakistani teachers. He highlighted the global dimension of the training by recognizing the efforts of Dr. Kashif Javaid, STEM Trainer and Assistant Professor (Physics), who received specialized leadership training in the United Kingdom and has now cascaded these advanced practices to GCUF faculty.

The workshop’s resource person, Dr. Kashif Javaid, shared key insights from the UK STEM Leadership Program, underlining the need for strong leadership in STEM teaching. His presentation underscored strategic frameworks for developing innovation and engagement in classrooms and stressed how advanced leadership skills in STEM empower faculty to guide students toward excellence in research, problem solving, and technology driven careers.
