Three Day Training Workshop on Early Childhood Development (ECD) - Parenting Package Held in Punjab

The Directorate General Health Services, Punjab, in collaboration with UNICEF Punjab and the Directorate of Training and Development, Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF), successfully organized a comprehensive three-day training workshop for Master Trainers on Early Childhood Development (ECD) – Parenting Package from August 25th to 27th, 2025.
The training aimed to equip educators and professionals with the latest knowledge and skills for supporting parents and caregivers in fostering optimal development in young children. A total of around 35 participants attended the workshop, representing diverse fields of specialization from GCUF and Government College Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF). This diverse turnout reflected the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in early childhood development and effective parenting practices.
The workshop featured a detailed and highly interactive series of sessions conducted by Dr. Beenish and Dr. Alam, esteemed trainers from UNICEF. Participants engaged in hands-on activities, discussions, and practical demonstrations, covering critical aspects of child growth, early stimulation, nutrition, parenting techniques, and positive discipline. The sessions provided valuable insights into the science of early childhood development and the crucial role of parental involvement in shaping the future of Pakistan’s youth.
The closing ceremony was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam, Vice Chancellor of GCUF, as the Chief Guest. Dr. Sofia Anwar, Director Training and Development, GCUF, was the Guest of Honour. On this occasion Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam commended UNICEF and the Directorate General of Health Services for their commitment to advancing early childhood care and education. He also acknowledged the Directorate of Training and Development for its effective coordination and facilitation throughout the training.
Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam further highlighted the necessity of such initiatives in empowering parents and caregivers, emphasizing that proper training, discipline, and focused child-rearing are instrumental in creating human capital for the country. He remarked that this investment in early childhood care and education will contribute significantly to Pakistan’s social and economic progress.
Dr. Sofia Anwar reaffirmed the Directorate’s dedication to continuous professional development and collaborative efforts for holistic child growth. She encouraged the participants to apply their learning within their communities and institutions, multiplying the impact of the training.
The successful completion of the ECD Parenting Package Workshop marks a significant milestone in building the foundation for healthy, resilient, and well-adjusted children across Punjab.
