Two-Day Hands-on Training Workshop on Modern Technologies for Field Work Successfully Conducted at GCUF

Government College University Faisalabad successfully organized a Two-Day Hands-on Training Workshop on Modern Technologies for Field Work in Physical and Social Sciences departments. The workshop was conducted under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam, Vice-Chancellor of GCUF, and organized by the Directorate of Training and Development, with Dr. Shoaib Khalid, Assistant Professor, Department of Geography, serving as the resource person.
The workshop commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Mr. Abdul Qudoos. Prof. Dr. Sofia Anwar, Director of the Directorate of Training and Development, introduced the theme highlighting the urgent need for digitalization in fieldwork. She emphasized that integrating mobile technologies such as tablets and smartphones with operational apps replaces traditional paper processes, resulting in improved efficiency, communication, data accuracy, and resource management, ultimately empowering researchers across disciplines.
Over forty participants from diverse academic backgrounds in physical sciences including Chemistry, Physics, Microbiology, Zoology, Statistics, and Environmental Science and social sciences such as Economics, Sociology, Business Administration, Education, Mass Communication, Geography, History, and more were enthusiastically engaged in the training.
At this occasion Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the attendees and underscored the critical role of modern technologies in advancing academic research.
He stated that while GCUF is committed to providing world-class infrastructure to its faculty and students, it is equally essential for the academic fraternity to equip themselves with contemporary skills and tools to maximize the benefits of such facilities.
The Vice-Chancellor concluded the event by distributing certificates among the participants, lauding the Directorate of Training and Development and Dr. Shoaib Khalid for their successful facilitation of this forward-looking workshop.
