
Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) Pakistan in collaboration with the Government College University Faisalabad Conducts Two Days Capacity Building Workshop on Food System Transformation for faculty members specializing in Food Science and Nutrition from various universities across Punjab.
The introduction of Food System Transformation courses is both timely and essential. As educators, we bear the responsibility of preparing our students to not only understand but also address the complex dynamics of food security, sustainability, and nutrition. Said Prof Dr Rauf-I-Azam Vice Chancellor Government College University Faisalaba at Capacity Building Workshop on Food System Transformation for Punjab Universities Faculty which is organized by the GAIN Pakistan at Avari Towers Lahore.
Dr Azam underscored the urgent need for food system transformation in Pakistan, highlighting how evolving food environments and nutrition challenges require a strategic, multidisciplinary approach to education and policy.
The training was led by Dr. Umair Bajwa, who served as the principal trainer throughout the workshop. Dr. Bajwa delivered comprehensive sessions on the principles and practical aspects of food system transformation.
At this occasion Chaudhry Faiz Rasool, Senior Policy Advisor at GAIN Pakistan, also addressed the gathering, commending both the participants and the trainer for their enthusiasm and engagement. He highlighted the significant role of GAIN and its development partners in supporting academic institutions like GCUF, and expressed optimism about future collaborations aimed at advancing food and nutrition security initiatives through innovative academic programs and research partnerships
