In an effort to internationalize and globalize Government College University, Faisalabad, Professor Dr. Zakir Hussain, Vice Chancellor along with delegation of three senior members of his faculty and staff is visiting three UK universities and one research organization in UK.
On the first day of his tour, meeting were held with the top officials and staff of the faculty of School of Agriculture Food and Rural Development (AFRD) particularly the Food Science and Nutrition Department, including the programme on Medicinal plants and Functional foods including as well as the Center for Rural Food Economy, which is also part of school of Agriculture. The purpose was to strengthen these teaching and research areas at GCUF in collaboration with Newcastle University in which this university has novel specialties.
The major focus will be on the collaboration through mutual research projects, staff and students exchange and exchange of information and experiences.
New Castle University is one of the top 20 in UK, achieving high research excellence, for graduate employment and is Queens’ Anniversary Prize winner for rural research. This university also enjoys 10th position in UK universities for student satisfaction and is also first university to have an overseas medical campus. The meetings will continue through 4th April, 2014 to explore other avenues of cooperation. This will be followed by meetings with University of Glasgow and University of Strathclyde in Scotland and one research organization Algaecytes in Canterbury.
