With the collaboration of New Mexico State University of USA, Government College University, Faisalabad, is going to initiate graduate programs in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering and Business. A MoU has been signed in this regard by the authorities of both the universities. This has been revealed by Dr. Zakir Hussain, the vice chancellor of Government College University, Faisalabad. He shared the details of this MoU in a meeting with the faculty members of his university. He said that the new graduate programs would be taught according to the curriculum of New Mexico State University and the lectures will be delivered through the link of video conference. Under this MoU, the teachers from the Arabic department of Government College University, Faisalabad, will also teach Arabic in American university. Dr. Zakir Said that the construction of the new campus at Jhang Road is rapidly in process. At the new campus, with the assistance of Swedish and American institutions, some new engineering and social sciences programs will also be started. The USAID will extend financial support for this new project.
“Keeping in view the students’ interest and their increasing enrolment in the evening programs, 72 new teaching staff members will be hired,” he added. Talking about fairness of examination system, Dr. Zakir Hussain said that to make examination system more effective, impartial and result oriented, after every semester, the reports of students’ performance will directly be sent to their respective parents. He said that a state-of-the-art English medium school will be launched in the university very soon and an NGO has shown great interest to support this project. Government College University will remain close during August 1, 2012 to August 31, 2012.
