PEEF scholarship distribution ceremony for Master Level student 2014-15 was held in Government College University Faisalabad on June 15, 2015. Rana Sanaullah, Provincial Minister of Law was the chief gust. Ms. Saima Perveen, Inchare Students’ Financial Aid Office described about various scholarship programs that are available for University students. Punjab Educational Endowment Fund – PEEF was started in the university in 2010. After that 61 students got scholarships of worth 8.6 million in the year 2010-11, 260 students got scholarships of worth 29.3 million in year 2011-12, 91 students got scholarships of worth 11.5 million in year 2012-13, 117 students got scholarships of worth 14 million in year 2013-14 and 134 students got scholarships of worth 6 million in year 2014-15.
Disbursement Officer of PEEF Mr. Nasir Subhani briefed about Punjab Educational Endowment Fund in Detail. He said that Punjab Government started this endowment fund in 2008 with amount of 2 Billion rupees. Now this amount has been increased to 13 Billion. Students of Matric and Intermediate can also get benefit for this fund and quota has been fixed for other provinces. 5326 scholarships have been awarded whereas the target is 100000 scholarships. Students don’t have to apply for this scholarship and for more easy access; E-Cards have been issued to the students.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali thanked the Punjab Government for initiating such encouraging steps and told students to use the scholarship amount carefully. Dr. Ali appreciated the education budget of the Punjab Government which is 27 percent of the total i.e. 310 Billion.
Rana Sanaullah said that PEEF budget was started with only 2 billion in 2008 and it will increase by 2 billion every year. He said that this endowment fund is helping poor students to fulfill their dreams. He also urged students to be proud of their own language. In the end chief guest distributed e-cards to the scholarship holders.
