“An orientation session on Higher Education Learning Platform (HELP) has been conducted in GCUF. The Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Muhammad Ali of GCUF, Dr. Zia ul Qayyum of UoG and Rector Dr. Tanveer Ahmed of NTU chaired the session. The project is an initiative by HEC on Learning Management System (LMS) implementation. The session was attended by the Deans and Directors of GCUF & NTU. Mr. Tanveer Ahmed Consultant HEC from HELP team opened the session with a brief introduction, background, functions and features of LMS. Dr. Zia ul Qayyum PD of this project further explained LMS as a component of Managed Learning Environment (MLE) and how the remaining components viz campus management system, enterprise resource planning, and capacity planning system complete the ecosystem of MLE. Dr. Khalid Latif Domain Consultant from HELP team gave the detail presentation on usability, functions, features, technical aspects and challenges. HELP will be deployed initially in five partner universities viz; Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF), National Textile University Faisalabad (NTU), University of Gujrat (UoG), Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), and Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University PIMS Islamabad (SZABMU).
HELP supports social inclusion for people with disabilities, special needs as well as others, such as elder people, people in remote areas. It is a learning platform designed to provide educators, administrators and learners with a single robust, secure and integrated system to create personalised learning environments. Standardization is one of the key component in HELP to bring all universities on one platform for reusability of course content, uniformity in assessments, course planner, classroom management, and performance appraisal at all levels. Idea of providing teachers with the tools is to create sequences of powerful activities to engage students in active collaborative learning environment. In concluding remarks, Prof Dr. Muhammad Ali and Dr. Tanveer Hussain has applauded the efforts of HELP team while showing keen interest and passion to roll out the HELP system at the earliest possible time.
