Previous Activities of QEC

  • Special Training Session held at HEC attended by Uzma Waseem, Deputy Director, QEC, GCUF in November 2008.
  • Constitution of Program Teams in all the academic departments.
  • Conducted meetings with HODs and Program Teams (PTs) and discussed quality of education regarding their department.
  • Circulated performae for collecting data to use as benchmark.
  • QEC demanded weekly worksheet, time table and Course plans from all the academic managers for the purpose of quality assurance.
  • Attended trainings and meetings of QECs conducted by HEC. A workshop on Self Assessment Program (PTs) conducted by HEC at Lahore was attended by Ms. Uzma Waseem, Deputy Director, QEC, GCUF in 2009.
  • A “DROP BOX” was hung outside QEC for getting complaints and suggestions by the students and employees.
  • Conducted seminar on the issue of ‘Introduction of Quality Enhancement Cells and Quality Assurance System in Higher Education’.
  • Conducted interviews for permanent QEC staff.
  • Assessment Teams were constituted for each academic department as per guideline of HEC. Each team consisted on three members.
  • QEC was included in the recurring budget of 2009.
  • Conducted seminar on Question Paper Setting on April 29, 2010.
  • QEC team visited all the academic departments of the University to ensure regularity of the academic activities and submitted the reports of the visits to the Vice Chancellor after every fifteen days.
  • A Special Training Session attended by QEC Director, Deputy Director and other staff members in June 2010 at HEC.
  • Conducted teacher evaluation by the students at the end of the semester. The evaluation results submitted to the Vice Chancellor. (conducted in July 2010).
  • QEC assessed the Examination System at departmental level to ensure the quality of education for last two semesters 2009-2010.
  • QEC collected Question Papers of last semester 2010 to assess the quality of Question paper and format.
  • As per directions of the Vice Chancellor QEC developed QA guidelines for academic departments distributed among departments.
  • Internal Academic Audit of Academic Departments conducted by the Vice Chancellor, QEC members and others. (Conducted in last two semesters 2009-2010)
  • Self Assessment program implemented in phases.

Current Activities

  • Collecting data from all the academic departments regarding faculty, non teaching staff and students and summarizing it, for the purpose of Quality Assurance.
  • Conducting visits in all the departments for the purpose of monitoring the regularity of classes, maintaining register and class work according to course plan.
  • As desired by HEC QEC is preparing University Portfolio Report. The Review panel will visit the University soon.
  • QEC has conducted ‘Teacher Evaluation at the end of the last semester. The QEC staff preparing the results. The results of the evaluation will be submitted to the Worthy Vice Chancellor soon.
  • Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zubair Siddiqui, Director QEC/Academics attended one day workshop on ‘The impact of Phase I and Phase II QECs’ on May 28, 2012 at Fatima Jinnah University, Rawalpindi.
  • Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zubair Siddiqui, Director QEC/Academics attended Seventeenth Meeting of QECs on June 18-19, 2012 at the Regional Centre of HEC, Lahore.


  • Conducted a seminar on ‘Introduction of Quality Enhancement Cells and Quality Assurance System in Higher Education’ in 2009.
    QEC has conducted a seminar on Paper Setting dated April 29, 2010 in which, Prof. Dr Hafiz Muhammad Iqbal, Dean, Faculty of Education IER, Punjab University, Lahore was the Resource person.
  • QEC has conducted one day workshop on ‘Quality Assurance Mechanism in Higher Education’ on January 11, 2011.
  • QEC has conducted one day workshop on ‘Research Methodology in Social Sciences’ on November 29, 2011.

Meetings of QEC

  • Ms. Uzma Waseem, Deputy Director QEC attended a meeting organized by HEC, at Bahaw Din Zakria University, Multan in 2009.
  • Ms. Uzma Waseem, Deputy Director QEC attended a meeting organized by HEC, at DOW UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH SCIENCES, KRACHI, in 2009.
  • Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qasim Incharge QEC, attended a meeting of QAA (Quality Assurance Agency), conducted by HEC at Peshawar, on 12-13 March, 2010.

Visits of all Academic departments

As approved by the Vice Chancellor, the QEC teams visit all the departments of the university regularly to ensure class work, regularity of the teacher.

As per directions the QEC members are working with the departments to review the following information provided by the respected departments on the approved proforma

  • Class Registers
  • Weekly Course plans
  • Weekly Work Sheet
  • Regularity of the classes
  • Time Table

The report of the visit is submitted to the Worthy Vice Chancellor after fifteen days.

Meetings with Program Teams (PT)

QEC conducts meetings regularly with Program Teams after fifteen days on Academic Issues. The purpose of the meetings is to discuss with them different academic issues. The meetings are organized by Incharge and Coordinator QEC.


Academic Audit Committee (AAC)

Academic Audit committee is headed by Vice Chancellor. QEC is the member of this committee. The purpose of this committee is to monitor the academic quality of all academic departments.

The committee is focusing on the following issues

  • Paper Setting
  • Sessional Work
  • Students’ Attendance
  • Completion of course
  • Different issues/Problem

Future Plans:

  • QEC is planning to organize one day seminar on ‘Developing Communication Skills in Teaching’, the resource persons are:
  • Prof. Dr. Abdul Rauf (Sitar-e-Imtiaz), Distinguishing Professor, HEC.
  • QEC is planning to Implement Self Assessment program in following ten more departments in Phase IV:
