For the awareness of public about the various aspects of Dengue Fever and its control, an awareness walk was carried out by Government College University, Faisalabad. The walk was headed by the Mr. Muhammad Ayub, Registrar, Government College University, Faisalabad alongwith Convener / Focal Person, CDC Dr. Muhammad Hidayat Rasool, Chairperson, department of Microbiology and members of CDC. All the academic & administrative heads, faculty members, University staff and students also participated in the walk. The walk started from Basic Sciences Block, GCUF routed through Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat (H-Block), Jhang Road, Main GCUF Road, Main Jinnah Colony Road and ended at GCUF main campus in front of Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat. The participants of the walk (volunteer students) hold banners, panaflex, play cards on dengue awareness. The student volunteers also distributed pamphlets to public bearing information regarding cause, signs & symptoms and preventive measures of dengue mosquito.
After dengue awareness walk, a seminar on dengue fever was conducted in Seminar Hall, Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat, Government College University, Faisalabad. All the University employees including Deans, Directors, Chairman, Incharges of Academic Departments, University Administration, faculty members, University Supporting Staff and students attended this seminar.
The seminar started with the recitation from Holy Quran followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool. Mr. Zeeshan Ahmad Khan, Deputy Director Student Affairs / Secretary Committee for Dengue Control (CDC) conducted the proceedings of whole seminar as Stage Secretary. Afterwards, Dr. Muhammad Hidayat Rasool, Focal Person CDC presented different technical aspects of the dengue fever and also briefed the audience about the anti-dengue campaign, launched by CDC, GCUF during the year 2012. He further informed the participants about the directions of Higher Education Department, Government of the Punjab to start anti-dengue activities from 15-02-2013 onwards.
The Registrar, Government College University, Faisalabad extended the words of thanks to all the participants of the seminar and dengue awareness walk. At the end, Chief Guest of the Seminar Prof. Dr. Hafeez ur Rehman Tahir Taunsvi, acting Dean, faculty of Islamic & Oriental Learning of this University expressed his views on the issue and encouraged the members of CDC on their efforts for this noble cause. Mr. Abid Kamalvi offered a combined pray to protect every one of us from this natural calamity.
