A one day training workshop “A Bite for Healthy Life” was organized by Department of Food Science and Nutrition at Government College University Faisalabad on the topic of Healthy Nutritional Practices for Toddlers and Women. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, Vice Chancellor Government College University Faisalabad was the chief guest in the opening session. Prof. Dr. Faqir Muhammad Anjum, Director Institute of Home and Food Science discussed about Malnutrition in country. He said that 58% people of Pakistan are affected from malnutrition whereas the ratio is 45% in other countries. He further added that malnutrition is the main problem of women, particularly pregnant women. Special attention is required for the people rural areas because 70% of the population is in rural areas. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali said that food security of women of rural areas is very important. He also stressed the importance of balanced diet. Vice Chancellor welcomed the women and children who were the participants of the workshop. Dr. Meher un Nisa, Chairperson Department of Food Science Nutrition & Home Economics delivered a lecture on preparation of proper diet for children. Ms. Shazia Zahra, Fatima Memorial Hospital Lahore, Ms. Sobia Rehman, Al-Shifa Hospital Islamabad also spoke in the occasion.
